Nonesense! The Public option will lead to a single payer system down the road and it will be similar to the English system. Our government has tons of money to keep a public plan floating with the illusion it is less costly than its competitors. This will be on our backs and force most Health insurance companys out of business for various reasons. At this point the wealthy will purchase the best from the remaining companys and leave the public for us.
It is always the middle class that gets hurt, specially with bleeding heart democratic plans. The rich can afford to get the best plans out there. The very poor already has medicaid and social services for free. The poor will be handed public option. The middle class will not qualify for government hand out and has to face the cuts in medicare, increased taxes (maybe in the form of price increase), and increase in co-insurance and deductibles. Great job Nancy and Harry. Welcome to the Socialist Republic of the United States Of America!!!
WE the taxpayers pay for their insurance, will everyone have the same coverage? After all I don't less coverage than Pelosi.
All this time and energy spent on all the debates, town halls etc. and for what? Bottom line will be higher taxes for everyone, high premiums or fines for the people who need coverage and have to buy into what's offered and the illegals and non working people will still get their free medical. It's a lose, lose for everyone..Stupid dems.
Democrats pathetic attempts to be bi-partisan (and to avoid pissing off insurance companies) just leads to only a handful of people getting insurance who didn't have it, while the rest of us continue to be abused by insurance industry.
And where exactly is either the news or the surprise here? Who hasn't realized by now that it's all much ado about nothing? They have to make a grand show out of it so that the Congresshores can they claim that they tried while all the while, they're taking payolas and kicks under the table from the insurance companies. Whatever happens, we can be sure of one thing: it ain't gonna be good for us serfs! We're gonna be even more screwed than before when it's all said and done.
Isn't that just the point................very costly plan with employers and individuals paying more with little being received in return. Only insurance companies benefit from this plan. This comes as no surprise if you know that Pelosi recently had a fundraiser sponsored by the insurance companies with the cost for the dinner being $2500 per plate.
We want reform..........lower costs, torte reform and most of all VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS
If we level the playing feild for all we should start with CONgress. CONgress should set a good example by immediaterly surrendering their pension plan (many other Americans have and not through choice) in favor of Social Security.
Members of CONgress should also immediately be enrolled in the Medicare or Medicaid program so that they have a real "feel" for the future public option.
VOTERS should insist on it.
There will be no health care for me,I'm too old. There will be a pill I can take and kick off. Our politicians will all ways have the best health care,because they vote it in for them selves,lets vote them into retirement and make them take medicare.

If we truely believe in the free market system etc. Then in order to have real reform then why are there not tort reform, the allowence of Ins. co. to sell polocy's accross state lines, the lowering of malpractice inc.
tax cuts for doctors and RPN's hospt. for seeing those who have little or no ins. WHY has FAIR trade laws not been instituded ?? WHY has more American manfact. jobs been lost to overseas & our govt. ain't done a thing..???? think about it...

All the private health plans will eventually throw in with the government's cheap plan. Then you will be waiting eight months for your knee replacement, or till he** freezes over for your chemo. The government will get your DNA, access to your bank account, the power to come in your house and vaccinate you, computerized medical records to keep you from getting a job and having children, mandatory this, mandatory that: "You must do this or you will no longer be covered"!
No insurance Company can compete with the government.
The government have unlimited funding and they will put all private insurance companies out of business and add more to the unemployed.

The public option will cover approx 2% of Americans. Using Obama's numbers it works out to about $400 million per person. Is it worth it? I don't think so. Vote incumbents out!
The latest proposed health care bill has been so watered down, it is nothing but a hodgepodge of confusion. I support some sort of public option, but as the legislation is currently written, few will benefit from it, and what IS in the bill just gives insurance companies another reason to raise rates and deny people coverage. WHY does the finished bill have to be on President Obama's desk and signed into law before the end of the year? This issue is a BIG DEAL that will affect each and every American in some way, and pushing a half-assed bill just to have one by December 31st isn't helpful to the people. I for one don't want anyone, whether it's the government OR insurance companies, playing craps with my taxpayer money OR my health. Skip the desired due date, and come up with a bipartisan plan that will get it right the first time. BOTH parties need to come up with a better bill. As it's written now, this health care bill will help virtually NO ONE.

Before anyone says, "Stupid democrats"--although I see it's already happened--stop and think which other political party the democrats have been trying to appease. This health care bill (which is still just a proposal, and not even close to final form) is the product of an honest attempt at bipartisanship that was ultimately abused by conservatives and the insurance lobby.
Charles, the proposals before CON gress were adopted by Democrats and ONE Republican. Closed door sessions which ELIMINATED Republicans from the decision making process ensures that this is a 100% Democrat plan. Numerous proposals were put forth by the Republican party which were not allowed to be introduced for debate. There is NO attempt at bipartisan legislation in this. The debates on CSpan are going to be interesting. I would encourage everyone to watch them.
